Good Morning BlogLand and Our New President

Good Morning to all you bloggers in blogland!! Well now today is the first day of our new President. Lets hope this President will help boost the ecomony and make it so people have decent jobs again. To many people are losing there homes, jobs, families are being torned apart. This recession or depression whatever they call it has to get better sooner than later. The job market is scarce, I opened the paper and looked at it yesterday and there was nothing out there. You used to open the paper and there was job after job, not anymore. I am just Thankful that we still have our home and my husband still has his job. To many people are just pounding the sidewalks day after day and putting out hundreds of resumes and making calls and nothing.

Others are resorting to other means of supporting there families such as turning to crime, most of them are left with no other choice. And that is not what this should come down to. What ever happened to helping your own? We help everyone else in other countries and such. Why can't the government step in and help the American People? Give them shelter, food and a bed to sleep in and feel safe, better yet create jobs!!

I am hoping that things will get better alot sooner than later. I am hoping that our new President will get things rolling as quick as possible.

Way to many people have lost everything already and that is not the way it should have been.

My Beautiful Daughter Christina

Hi here I am again still playing around with this. There is a lot to learn, I just posted a picture of my beautiful daughter Christina. Christina is such an inspiration to all who know and love her. She cannot talk or walk but her expressions say it all. We all complain of everyday aches and pains or life in general. Christina usually has a smile on her face no matter what. This child has experienced more pain in her life then most. Christina has alot of medical issues one of them is severe scoliosis, along with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. This child can be happy and smiling one minute and the next she can be in respiratory distress in the hospital on a ventilator. She is well know in the hospital in the Lehigh Valley Area. She amazes even her doctors that care and treat her, for someone as complexed as she is. Christina always pulls through, Thank God. Today she is still sleeping away in her bed with her nurse by her side. Christina will sleep until 12:oo somedays and others she is bright eyed and bouncing about by 7 a.m. We also have a special link to Wheels for Christina, Helping the Special Needs & Developmentally Disabled. This is the charity we are making the aprons for, we hope to sell lots of them.

Handmade Aprons and retro type aprons

Hi I have been busy making handmade aprons and retro type handmade aprons. I have been busy buying up material and throwing different colors together. I have some aprons hanging in Alice's Pantry in Jim Thorpe Pa. I am always on the go doing something if not taking care of Christina, I am busy cleaning house or crocheting or running errands. I tend to bring my grand children home from time to time and boy do they keep you hopping. Sometimes I feel so young and other times I feel so tired and worn out. I'm also new to this blogging thing, so I hope I can get it to go well. I am trying to figure it all out so I can download some pictures of what I am working on. Well until next blog!!!

Wheels for Christina

Our Story

My Beautiful Daughter Christina

Our story starts with the birth of this beautiful little girl. Christina was born with Cerebral Palsy, by
the age of 2 she had her first grand mal seizure. Christina has been hospitalized quit a few times
over the years for pneumonia's and other respiratory issues. Christina has severe scoliosis and
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease which has her depending on oxygen 24 hours a day

In 1997 Christina had a feeding tube inserted, Nissan fundoplication for refluxing. Later she
had the tube changed from a gastric tube to a jejunum. She is tube fed 100% nothing by
mouth at all, everything goes into her small intestines. Christina is a very special child, she
is non-ambulatory, non-verbal and struggles with various health issues. This little princess
usually has a smile on her face, unless the sun is in her eyes or she is tired or in pain.

This Princess of mine tells me she loves me everyday with her eyes and glowing face. I will
never hear Mommy I Love You, but I see it everyday. I (mom) transport Christina to and
from doctors appointments, family visits, shopping and other outings. I lift my princess in
and out of her wheelchair and into the front seat of our van, which is getting harder to do.
Christina is dead weight since she is non-weight bearing and at the age of 25 she now weighs
137 lbs. We always have a caretaker with us during transports, this caretaker spots us with the
hopes that we do not fall.

Up until 3 years ago Mom worked, I gave up my job to care for my princess. We work at
supporting Christina to the best, but we are now in need of some help. This is why we started
Wheels for Christina with the intentions of getting a Wheelchair accessible van. Our plan is
to keep this going to help other families with similar situations.

We will be posting another page to this website to sell aprons and afghans for this charity all handmade by mom and a caregiver. Visit this web site at www.wheelsforchristina.com
